70周年「70th Anniversary Celebration: Love · Fulfillment · Wholeness — Global Alumni Homecoming Gala Dinner

In celebration of the 70th anniversary, Evangel Children’s Home (ECH) brought together 70 ex-colleagues and present staff, alumni, residents, and companions. From the eldest first-generation alumnus – Big Brother Paul Tuen, to the youngest one, Ada who was adopted to Australia, each shared heartfelt stories of life, growth with transformation, and enduring ties with ECH – all these testimonies are captured in the groundbreaking series ‘70 Life Stories Short Films,’ premiered at the Global Alumni Reunion – Jubilee Gala Dinner on November 15, 2025, as a tribute to God’s abundant grace over seven decades.

More than 300 alumni and ex-colleagues across generations gathered with guests, ECH children, and staff in celebration. The Platinum Jubilee Gala Dinner marked the premiere of the groundbreaking series ‘70 Life Stories Short Films,’ a tribute to the rich grace bestowed upon Evangel Children’s Home over its 70 years. With “Love” carried forward by past and present staff, alumni and children embrace a “Fulfilled” life. Supported and nurtured along the way, they grow into “Wholeness”, testifying to the mission of passing on love across generations.

70th Anniversary “Love · Fulfillment · Wholeness” — Inheriting Love Through Life Stories

The launch ceremony for the 70 Life Stories was hosted by guests – Kimman Wong (Hong Kong Singer), Rev. Dr. John Tran (Founding Pastor of the E.F.C.C.) and Rev. Chan Wing Chau (General Secretary of the E.F.C.C.), Ms. Sharlene Ortlund (Former Missionary of ECH), Mr. Lau Kwok Wa (Chairman, The Board of Directors of ECH), Ms. Law Mei Chun Vivian (Superintendent of ECH), Mr. Paul Tuen Yat Kan (First-generation Alumnus) and the youngest resident Kai Ying.

Witnessing God’s Grace

Mr. Kimman Wong worshipped with ECH children and shared his life testimony, encouraging us with his own experiences. He also invited fellow ambassador Ms. Jade Kwan to sing his favorite Hymn song “What Logic is This?”, that helps people facing adversity in life, to everyone present, wishing the precious ECH children to meet God in their lives and move towards a better future.

Heartfelt Sharing on Stage by Overseas Alumni

First-generation alumni, big brother Paul and big sister Annette, shared their experiences of “Inheriting Mission of ECH Founder Miss Ruth Sundquist”; alumni Sai-ming shared “This is My Home – Tracing My Origin”; and alumni Chan Chun Wai shared “A Life of Following God”. Their expressions of gratitude were deeply moving.

Flash Memory 70 Years of Happy Childhood

Various games brought back memories of the past, evoking collective nostalgia: including children played in the pool under the care of Miss Sunquist; kids riding bicycles in front of the main gate; playful costumes at joyful Summer Night party; and today’s children enjoying summer water celebrations. It felt like traveling through time, with laughter echoing throughout.

Across more than half a century, we are grateful for all who have left footprints of love at Evangel Children’s Home. Their legacy has weaved bonding of family love and grace that reaches across the world, united in celebrating the 70th anniversary — Love · Fulfillment · Wholeness.
